Mom of three. Competitive runner. Big goals. A full life.
For Jinae, running has always been about more than simply logging miles.
As a mom of three children under five, returning to running postpartum while managing ongoing hip/back issues, she is learning how to balance her competitive spirit with the realities of a very full season of life.
Her original goal was to pursue a sub-1:35 half marathon. But as life and priorities have evolved, so has her definition of success.
She still wants to chase competitive 5K times, improve her fitness, and challenge herself as a runner. She just needs an approach that supported her health, family, and current season of life. And that's where coaching comes in.
Finding the Balance Between Ambition and Sustainability
Like many driven runners, Jinae is accustomed to putting pressure on herself to complete every workout and prioritize training volume. But more isn't always better. Through individualized programming, regular communication, and ongoing adjustments, our focus has become building a training approach that is challenging, purposeful, and realistic.
Not just a plan that looked good on paper, but one that makes sense for the person following it. Here's how Jinae described the change:
"I think I used to put too much pressure on myself to nail a workout and prioritize volume over substance, but Emma helped me embrace a much more reasonable training plan with real results and accountability."
For Jinae, coaching isn’t simply about having someone assign workouts. It is about having someone in her corner to help her make decisions, answer questions, and keep the bigger picture in mind.
More Than a Training Plan
When asked what she has found most helpful about having a running coach, Jinae shared:
"The encouragement, the structure, the accountability. Having somebody in your corner to troubleshoot injuries and training questions, it has made a world of difference."
And when asked what she has enjoyed most about working together:
"The constant encouragement and checking in! Emma always remembers the smallest details and always comments on my runs and checks in to ask questions about how x,y,z issue is progressing."
That's a part of coaching I care deeply about! A training plan is important. And so is understanding the reasoning behind it.
But a good coaching relationship also means paying attention to how an athlete is responding, asking questions, making adjustments, and recognizing that what's happening outside of running matters too.
Jinae’s Testimonial:
"15/10 recommend! Emma brings both a peace and intensity to running that is contagious. She approaches training in such an analytical way. She does the heavy lifting for you in that sense. But she approaches coaching as relationship first. She coaches a whole person not just a runner."

Big Goals. Full Lives. Smart Training.
Jinae's experience reflects something I truly believe about running coaching: You shouldn't have to choose between pursuing your potential as an athlete and taking care of the rest of your life.
Training should challenge you, but it should also make sense for your goals, experience, health, and responsibilities.
Whether you're returning to running, preparing for your first race, chasing a personal best, or trying to find consistency in a busy season, you deserve a plan built around you. And you deserve a coach who sees more than your splits and weekly mileage.
